How junk removal pricing works

Photos in, a range back in under a minute, confirmed on site before anything is loaded. The figure is for the space your load takes in the truck, not the time it takes.

Price by load size

Your photos place the pile on this table. The crew confirms the figure before anything is loaded.

Junk removal price ranges by how much of the truck the load fills

The full terms

Priced by truck space, not by the hour

The truck holds 270 cubic feet, about 10 cubic yards. Every load is priced as a share of that space: a single item, a corner of the truck, half of it, most of it, or all of it. A couch and a few boxes take a corner. A garage nobody has opened in years can fill the whole thing.

Nothing runs on a clock. If the crew takes longer because the staircase is tight or the pile is buried, the figure does not change. The time it takes is our problem, not yours.

Weight is the one exception. Concrete, dirt, brick, tile and roofing are heavy for the space they take, and the transfer station charges by the ton for them. So heavy debris is weighed and quoted on site, never priced from a photo.

Why the photo gives you a range, not a number

A photo shows the front of a pile. It cannot show what is behind the couch, under the tarp, or at the back of the garage. Pricing the whole load from one face of it would mean picking a number that might have to change on your driveway, and a number that changes on the driveway is the thing people in this business get accused of.

So you get a range instead: from the size we can see to the next size up. The crew looks at the load with you and confirms the figure before anything goes in the truck. If it takes less space than the photos suggested, you pay less.

Clear, wide shots of a simple pile get a tighter range. A dark garage photographed from the doorway gets a wider one. Wider, brighter photos are the fix.

Your price is for what you showed us. If our estimate misreads your photos, that is ours to carry. If there is more there than the photos showed, it is priced as an extra, and nothing extra goes on the truck until you say yes to that price.

What the price includes, and what can change it

Always included

  • Two crew on every job
  • All the loading and lifting
  • Long carries
  • Disposal at the transfer station

Fridges, freezers, air conditioners and televisions are charged per piece at the station, so each one is a named line on your estimate.

When the job closes, the station's receipt goes to your pickup page, and to your email if you gave one.

What could move it

Items the camera never saw
A second pile behind the first, a closet the photo did not reach. More items mean more space, and the crew tells you before they load it.
Heavy debris
Concrete, dirt, brick, tile and roofing are charged by the ton at the gate, so the crew weighs them on site rather than guessing from a photo. The estimate flags them; the crew quotes them.
A second load
The truck holds 270 cubic feet. Bigger than one truckload? That's a second load, priced before it happens.
Anything we cannot carry
Hazardous waste, solvents, asbestos, ammunition, propane, fuel and medical waste stay where they are and stay out of the price. The county's household hazardous waste drop-off takes most of it from residents for free.

When the work is done we email you an invoice, and you can pay it online by card or bank transfer, or pay the crew by cash or check. If you booked without an email, you pay the crew at the job. Nothing is charged before the job, and a flat-rate item is paid the same way.

If the pile is too big or too odd for the photos to call, the estimate says so and a person prices it instead of guessing.

What costs extra, and why

Some items cost more to get rid of than their space suggests, because the transfer station charges for them by the piece. Stairs and taking something apart can carry a set charge too. The estimate names each one before you book.

  • Mattresses and box springs

They take a lot of truck for their weight, and the station charges by the piece once a load has more than a few. A stack from a rental turnover is priced per piece, shown before you book.

  • Tires

The station takes tires separately and charges per tire, more on the rim. Six or more we quote by hand before you book.

  • Paint

Latex paint rides in the load: dried-out cans at a set charge per can, paint still liquid by the gallon. Oil-based paint and stain stay; a PaintCare site takes them free.

  • Fridges, freezers and air conditioners

Anything holding refrigerant is charged per unit at the station, coolant or not.

  • Televisions

Only one station in the county takes them, and it charges per set.

Questions about the price

Is the table the price for my load?

It is the range for a load that size. Two garages that both say garage cleanout can be four times apart in volume, so your photos place your pile on the table, and the crew confirms the figure with you before anything is loaded.

Can I get a price without uploading photos?

Yes. Type a description instead of uploading, or call and we price it on the phone. Photos usually get you a tighter range, because the range is only as good as what we can see.

One item rather than a load? The flat rates price it by name.
