Who you are dealing with
Vanquish Junk Removal LLC, based in Tacoma, Washington. Booking a pickup on this site is an agreement between you and us.
The estimate is an estimate
The figure your photos produce is a range, worked out by an automated reading of the pictures you sent. It is a starting point, not a quote, and it can be wrong in either direction: a camera cannot see behind a pile, it cannot judge the weight of debris, and it cannot tell a solid oak dresser from a hollow one.
Your price is for what you showed us. If our estimate misreads your photos, that is ours to carry. If there is more there than the photos showed, it is priced as an extra, and nothing extra goes on the truck until you say yes to that price.
The crew confirms the actual figure with you on site, before anything goes in the truck. If there is more than you showed us, they price the extra and you approve it before anything is loaded. No surprise charges.
Photos you send
Send photos of the items you want taken away, and only photos you have the right to share. By sending a photo you confirm that you do. You are responsible for what you send. Do not send photos of people, or of anything illegal or offensive.
Every photo is checked automatically before anything else happens to it, and a photo that is not of the items is deleted and never kept. The one exception is a photo we have to report to the authorities: our texting provider’s copy of it is left in place for them. We may delete any photo and refuse service. If a photo is one we cannot accept, photo pricing pauses for that device or phone number for 30 days. We are not responsible for what a customer chooses to send us.
Arrival times
You ask for a day and a morning or an afternoon. When we accept, we tell you the time we plan to arrive. That is our plan, not a fixed appointment: the crew lets you know when they are on the way, about half an hour out. If a job before yours runs long, we tell you before that time comes rather than letting it pass in silence.
If weather, a breakdown or a job that turned out to be twice its photographs means we cannot reach you, we will tell you as early as we know and move you to the next time that works. A missed arrival time does not carry a refund or a credit, and we cannot compensate you for time set aside.
Changing or canceling
Free, both of them, right up until the time we plan to arrive. Use the link in your confirmation or write to us. There is no cancellation fee, no deposit, and nothing to claim back, because nothing is charged until the work is done.
If the crew cannot get in, they let you know from the door and wait 15 minutes. If they still cannot, that visit is gone and you pick a new day from your pickup page, at no charge the first time. If it happens again, a trip fee may apply, up to the amount on your pickup page. Nothing else is billed for a missed visit.
Paying
You pay when the work is finished, once you have seen the truck loaded. The figure the crew confirms is what you pay, with tax inside it. It includes Washington’s refuse collection tax, which we collect and pay to the state.
For a pickup inside Tacoma city limits, the City of Tacoma’s 6% solid waste excise is inside that figure too. We collect it and pay it to the City.
When the work is done we email you an invoice, and you can pay it online by card or bank transfer, or pay the crew by cash or check. If you booked without an email, you pay the crew at the job. Nothing is charged before the job, and a flat-rate item is paid the same way.
What we cannot take
Hazardous waste, solvents, asbestos, oil-based paint and stain, ammunition, propane and other fuels, and medical or biohazard waste. If any of it is in the load, the crew will leave it and tell you where it can go. Latex paint is fine: dried-out cans at a set charge per can, and paint still liquid at a set charge per gallon, named on your estimate.
We do not take firearms under any circumstances, and we cannot make an exception for you if you ask.
What we take becomes ours
Ownership of each item passes to Vanquish Junk Removal LLC when our crew puts it on the truck. Not when you book, and not when we arrive. Until an item is lifted it is still yours, and you can pull it back out of the pile.
Once an item is ours, we decide where it goes: a transfer station, a scrap yard, or a donation drop-off if a charity will take it. None of that can be undone, so empty drawers, pockets and boxes before we arrive.
Usable items are offered to local charities and anything they will not take goes to the transfer station. We do not promise that any one item is donated.
By booking you are telling us the items are yours to give away, or that their owner asked you to have them removed. Ownership passes only as far as your own went: if something turns out not to have been yours, tell us and we will help sort it out.
If something goes on the truck by mistake, call or text us straight away. Ownership does not pass for anything loaded by mistake, and while the load is still on the truck we bring it back at no charge. Once a load is tipped at the transfer station it cannot be recovered, so the sooner you tell us, the better.
Some things never become ours, wherever they turn up: cash and coins; anything made of gold, silver or platinum, jewelry included; gemstones; medication; and papers carrying bank, tax, medical or ID details. If the crew finds any of it, they stop and hand it to you, and if they cannot tell whether something is real, they ask. Costume jewelry and other everyday things go with the rest of the load. Firearms and ammunition we do not take at all.
If we damage something
Getting a sofa down a stairwell or out through a doorway is not always possible without marking something, and we would rather stop than force it. The crew will show you the tight spot and let you decide. Tell us before we start about anything fragile on the route: a refinished banister, a new floor, a low ceiling fixture.
If something is damaged anyway, tell the crew while they are there, or use the report link on your booking page. Either one reaches us the same way and puts the time on it.
We answer within one business day. Repairs are settled at what the repair costs.
These terms make no promise about damage.
SMS terms
Texts about a pickup are optional and are never a condition of booking. If you choose them, Vanquish Junk Removal texts the number you gave us about that pickup only: when we have your request, when we accept or decline it, if we cannot answer in time, if the pickup moves or is cancelled, and, once it is booked, arrival reminders and an on-the-way note. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Every message we can send is listed one by one on the SMS terms page. What we collect and who else sees it is in the privacy policy. Both are shorter than this page.
If something goes wrong
Write to info@vanquishjunk.com and tell us what happened. We would much rather hear it from you than read it somewhere else. Anything we cannot settle between us belongs in the courts of Pierce County, Washington, under Washington law.
Changes to these terms
If they change, the date at the top of this page changes. The terms that apply to your pickup are the ones published when you booked it.
